Music Parents Association

Music Parents Association

The Burnaby North Music Parents Association (MPA) is comprised of parent volunteers of students from each music class in the music program. The parents meet on 2nd Wednesday every other month at 7:008:30 pm to encourage and support the efforts of music students and foster a lifelong love of music in our school and community. MPA works collaboratively with the Music Department and the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The roles include President, Secretary, Treasurer, PAC Liaison, Concessions Coordinator, Communication Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator and Web Coordinator. This group of parents helps organizing all the big events in the music program, fundraising, concerts and marching band performances. MPA’s primary goal is to support the Burnaby North band program to ensure its continued success for years to come.

Its goals and objectives are:
(1) To support the music program at Burnaby North Secondary School
(2) Organize fund raising activities for needs over and above what the School Board will provide such as trips, sheet music, special instruments and equipment
(3) Assist with organization of music trips and retreats
(4) Increase parent participation in the various music events (concerts, trips, etc.)
(5) Cooperate with school officials (teachers and administrators) in creating and maintaining a successful music program
(6) Increase community support in the music program
